In Memory of

Ray W. Burney

On May 18, 2019 we lost our founder, bandleader, mentor and friend Ray W. Burney to a year-long illness. Ray started RB and the Gang 41 years ago in Memphis, Tennessee. When he retired and moved to Florida he formed a new RB and the Gang made up of local area musicians and singers. On June 9th we will perform one last time as RB and the Gang and dedicate our last show together to our friend Ray.

Song selection was so important to Ray that he carefully planned and selected songs to be sure each one was something unique and pleasing to the audience.  He dedicated himself to giving each one of his band members the opportunity to perform in shows that often ended with encores and standing ovations.

We wish to thank all of our fans and supporters who attended our shows, danced and sang and enjoyed all the songs that Ray so dearly planned and loved.

Memphis - Tampa

Since 1978

Originally from Memphis, Tennesse and now located in Tampa, Florida, RB and the Gang is a 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and Motown rock and roll band.  They packed major clubs throughout the United States and performed in concert with artists such as The Drifters, The Platters, The Coasters, The Diamonds, Herman's Hermits, Jerry Lee Lewis, Sam the Sham (Wooly Buley), Little Anthony and the Imperials, Chubby Checker and Tommy Boyce (composer of the Monkeys songs and of "I Wonder What She's Doing Tonight").

We enjoyed another great evening with this great band and 6 talented vocalists. A sold out event every time they come to Sun City Center. Singing songs from the 50's and 60's and keeping the people up dancing and singing with them. Great fun!

Some of you will remember the great performance by RB and the Gang at the Southshore Falls clubhouse a few months ago.  We all agreed that they were fantastic and that we would like to see them again.  Well, they are back - and will perform in concert".

Ok RB and the Gang rocked Del Webb Southshore Falls tonight. No one wanted to go home.  2.5 hours of all the music we knew and wanted to dance to.  If you come again we will have to enlarge our dance floor. Amazing singers and band!!!!"

"This outfit is more fun than a little bit! They open with songs we all remember and you'll be singing your lungs out in less than a minute. It's 50s and 60s rock & Roll at its' best. You look around and people are singin', shoulder boppin' and just having a great time. The harmonies and solos are on point and the musicians' timing is great. They are one tight band.  If and when you get the chance to see and hear them, go for it, you will thank yourself for goin'..."

"Wow, "Oh What A Night"!! We had a group of ladies looking for a fun night out and did we get it. RB and the Gang were fabulous and kept us on the dance floor, "All Night Long"...the music is still in my head as you can tell. Great musicians and singers. Hope you are playing again locally soon!! Thanks again for a great night.."

"Everyone seemed to be having a blast. 4 new people were converted at our table, as they have never heard the band before. Great sound set-up, fun costumes and the band seemed to be genuinely enjoying themselves. Keep up the good show and come back soon."

"What a refreshing band - bringing back the oldies with good memories and great for both the young and old......or young at heart!"
